St. Carlo Acutis

Life

The saint was born in London, England, in May 1991, to Italian parents. From early childhood he grasped deeply the mystery of the Eucharist, attending Mass daily and continuing his Eucharistic adoration. A firm devotion to Our Lady was also at the center of his life.

Young Acutis dedicated his exceptional IT talents to his faith. He personally researched and documented Eucharistic miracles and Marian apparitions that had occurred around the world, creating a website and exhibitions. This project — which he completed by coding and designing entirely on his own — remains today a precious resource sought out by Catholics around the world.

In 2006 he was diagnosed with acute leukemia and in October of that same year, at the age of 15, he returned to God in Monza, Italy. He departed this world leaving behind the words, "I offer my body to God." On September 7, 2025, Pope Leo XIV canonized Carlo Acutis as a saint.

Two Miracles

The Catholic Church requires at least two miracles to be officially recognized before a person can be raised to sainthood.

The first miracle occurred to a Brazilian boy named Matheus. Suffering from a rare pancreatic disorder, Matheus had been forced to live his entire life on a liquid diet of ground food. One day he stroked a photograph of Carlo Acutis and prayed fervently. That evening, for the first time since birth, he was able to swallow food and could even eat solid food.

The second miracle occurred in 2022 to Valeria in Costa Rica. Valeria suffered a brain hemorrhage in a bicycle accident and underwent emergency craniotomy. For Valeria, who was in critical condition, her mother prayed earnestly at Carlo's tomb. After the prayer ended, Valeria began to breathe on her own without a ventilator, recovered her ability to speak, and was able to walk the very next day.
